Lime House sushi restaurant taps East Amherst for third location

Lime House has signed a lease for a third location, this one in East Amherst.

The locally owned sushi restaurant is taking over the Pierogi Pete’s space at 9320 Transit Road, which has been vacant since the restaurant closed in December.

Located next to Kaylena Marie’s Artisan Bakery, the new site was built out as a restaurant, so the conversion isn’t expected to take long, said Lime House Owner Thanda Win. She expects to be able to open by July, pending permit approvals by the Town of Amherst.

“The location is great,” she said. “It’s all set up.”

At the same time, she’s working to get a second site open at 3030 Niagara Falls Blvd. in Tonawanda in a Benderson Development plaza that also houses a Chipotle and Jersey Mikes. Pita Gourmet, another local chain, is also planning a site in the same plaza.

With permits soon to be filed with the town, that site will likely take another three to four months.

Lime House got its start in Williamsville as a full-service restaurant, but it shifted to a counter-service concept and scaled-back menu with a move to Hamburg in 2022.

While all three sites in Hamburg, Tonawanda and East Amherst will be corporate-owned, Lime House began offering franchise opportunities last year and has heard from many potential partners, Win said.

“We’re still talking to people from Florida, Texas and California, but we’re trying to grow close by first,” she said. “For now, we are focusing on Western New York locations, because this is where Lime House began. It’s good to start here and then establish the brand all over New York State before expanding to other states.”
